SOUTHBURY â The United Church of Christ, Southbury, will host its annual Holiday Fair on Saturday, November 18, from 9:30 am to 3 pm, at the church, 283 Main Street North in Southbury.
The fair offers an extensive selection of hand-crafted and other gift items including jewelry and estate silver, fresh evergreen wreaths, and baked goods. Coffee and refreshments will be available in the morning, with a sit-down luncheon at 11:30.
Children can enjoy craft activities, including face painting, with the aid of local Girl Scouts.
A silent auction will run from 9:30 am until 1 pm, followed at 2 by a live auction. Among the items to be auctioned off are a Tickle Me Elmo TMX, a five-hour sailing cruise for four on Long Island Sound, baseball batting lessons with Darren Bragg, tickets to Cats at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, gift baskets, and numerous other items including three different catered meals, one featuring steak, one featuring salmon, and one featuring a five-course Italian dinner with wine pairings. Paul Stansel of Absolute Auction in Southbury will wield the gavel.
The fair will culminate with the drawing of the winning raffle ticket. First prize in the raffle is a meeting house quilt, designed and hand-quilted especially for the holiday fair by Southbury resident Jocelyn Bagger. Second prize is a 20GB Apple iPod with color screen and dock; third prize is dinner for two at the Mayflower Inn in Washington; and fourth prize is a $75 gift certificate for Southbury Food Center.
Tickets are on sale now and will also be sold at the fair. To purchase tickets call the church office at 264-8807.
