Many Blessings To Count
Americans will soon celebrate Thanksgiving, a holiday season during which I remind myself of the many blessing I have. Here are a few of things for which I am thankful this year:
1. Candidates who put themselves on the line, and who, once having been elected, served the public good, or if not elected, graciously conceded;
2. Citizens who stood patiently in line on a very cold day to make sure their voices were heard;
3. Erica Canfield and LeReine Frampton, Newtown’s Registrars of Voters, who worked tirelessly all day and through the night to make sure ballots were counted fairly and accurately; and
4. The Newtown Bee editorial staff who reminded readers in the October 30th edition of The Bee that no matter who was elected on November 3, Newtown would be fine.
Because of you, the representative democracy Americans prize still works. Thank you all.
Sincerely,
Jan Brookes
