Modzelewski, Defense Lift UMass To Title

BOSTON — The University of Massachusetts-Boston women’s soccer team downed Western Connecticut State University 1-0, in the Little East Conference championship game this past Sunday afternoon.

The Beacons won the first LEC tourney title in program history behind the defensive play of, among others, Newtown’s Alli Modzelewski, which allowed only 14 shot attempts, and just five on target, in holding the third-best offense in the LEC scoreless for just the third time this season. Tayla Andrews scored the only goal for the Beacons who are 18-2, and 6-1 in conference play. Modzelewski also earned First Team All Conference accolades.
