Better Late Than Neverâ
Post-Sandy Halloween Fun Floods Main Street

Spooky faces and angry masks paraded across lawns and up and down Main Streetâs sidewalks Sunday, November 4, during a post-Superstorm Sandy Halloween celebration. The annual swarm of ghosts and ghouls that traditionally queues outside decorated front porches on October 31 was delayed for the second year in a row as severe weather days earlier curtailed trick-or-treating.
Spirits â and witches, monsters, and more â were high as silhouetted figures tromped past lighted jack-oâ-lanterns and edged closer to resident Cyndy DaSilva as she passed out candy Sunday. Behind her a cloaked creature danced side to side greeting visitors. Up the hill at The Inn at Newtown, Kristine Faylanger reached out to drop handfuls of candy into baskets and bags as a growing line of revelers marched across the porch.
Facing a similar swarm at their doorstep were homeowners Debbie and Jack Moreno at 23 Main Street. Near the flagpole and set up with a table on the sidewalk were Dan-Holcombe House owners Jane and John Vouros, also in costume and joining the fun. Across the intersection was a group from Dental Associates, including Patricia Pennell, Donna Dains, Lee Ives, Lisa Grossman, Rebecca Wood, and Alyssa Ives.
Trying to keep up with the crowd swinging past the General Store was Marissa Leone, quickly reaching into a bucket to keep the candy flowing. A few steps down the sidewalk and in front of the Edmond Town Hall were Kate Kelleher, Stacy DeJulio, and Tooth Fairy Michelle Morrison, giving away packets that read âStop Zombie Mouth,â and toothbrushes. Beside them near the town hall steps were game stations for children who needed a break from bustling door-to-door for candy. Dressed as football players were McMahon brothers Ryan, Matthew, and James, taking turns at the games.
Carefully walking from house to house in a large costume was Olivia Buckles dressed as a pumpkin patch, smiling from a hole cut in a panel painted with pumpkins and vines. With her was Taegan Smith as Cleopatra. They soon visited the home of Jennifer Sheehan and Mike Guman at 38 Main Street as the couple, dressed as a butterfly and cowboy, welcomed visitors.
