Take A Moment To Say Thanks
Take A Moment To Say Thanks
To the Editor:
Now that the damage from Alfred has been mostly repaired, I think we all should take a moment to say thank you to all of the people who helped us out during our time of need.
To the firefighters, EMS personnel, police department, public works department, dispatchers and town officials, thank you for your long hours and tireless work to ensure that the residents of this town were looked after and safe.
To the National Guard members who delivered drinking water and MREs.
To the numerous line crews who worked 16-hour days with eight or less hours of rest leaving your families and communities behind to help out people youâve never met asking only that they would do the same for you.
Thank you.
If you were assisted by any of these personnel, consider taking the time to say thank you. If you remember which power company did the line work on your road, perhaps take a moment to e-mail their headquarters and thank them for what they did. None of them did it for the glory for the attention or for the thanks but itâs definitely appreciated, I assure you of that.
We should look back on this storm the same way we did with Irene, not to place blame on individuals or companies but to see how we came together as a community helping out our neighbors and really appreciating what we have.
