Merry Ann Blantin, 47, formerly of Newtown, died October 30at her home in Watertown. She was born on July 19, 1960, the daughter of George and Irene Blantin of Newtown.

Ms Blantin attended Newtown Public Schools. She worked at the Southbury Training Center for many years, and attended Calvary Fellowship of Southbury where she will be deeply missed. She had an abiding love of animals, and volunteered in Guatemala for humane organizations.

She is survived by her sister, Diane White of Goshen. Her parents and a brother, Eric, who was killed in Viet Nam in 1969, predeceased Ms Blantin.

Funeral services were held November 7 at Calvary Fellowship of Southbury.

Memorial donations may be made to a cause very close to Ms Blantin’s heart, the Front Range Equine Rescue, PO Box 307, Larkspur, CO 80118 or online at frontrangeequinerescue.org. The nonprofit organization works to end the abuse and neglect of horses.
