Louis J. Cennamo, Sr, 79, of Bridgeport, a retired firefighter for the City of Bridgeport, died November 2 at Milford Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport on March 8, 1928, he was a son of Joseph Cennamo and Mary Rega.
Survivors include three brothers, Joseph Cennamo and his wife, Donna, of Newtown, Charles Rega and his wife, Beverley, of Easton, and John Cennamo and his wife, Alice, of Stratford; three children, Lisa Barriga and her husband, Carlos, of Los Angeles, Jodi Cennamo of Bridgeport, and Louis Cennamo, Jr, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a stepson, Michael Brideau of Huntington Beach, Calif.; five sisters, Patricia Frouge of Bridgeport, Mary Lynn Loomis and her husband, Ralph, of Stamford, Georgia Nielsen of Stratford, Cheryl Warrington and her husband, Ken, of Stratford, and Anne OâConnor and her husband, Tim, of Massachusetts; one granddaughter, Ashley Barriga; a special nephew, David Frouge; and many other nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Warren Harding High School, he was a US Navy veteran of World War II who served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters. Well known throughout the community, his generosity and easy-going way will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services took place November 7 in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull, and in St Andrew Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment with military honors followed in the Garden Mausoleum of St Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
