Jeannette H. Kawiecki

Former Newtown Resident

Jeannette H. Kawiecki, 92, formerly of Newtown, died November 5 in Wilbraham, Mass. Born in Terryville, November 5, 1915, she was the daughter of Ignacy and Sophie (Waltersdorf) Kawiecki.

A resident of Newtown for more than 80 years, she moved to Massachusetts in 2005. Ms Kawiecki attended Palestine and Hawley schools and was a Newtown High School graduate. She later attended business school in Bridgeport.

She worked at the former F.H. Lee Hat Factory in Danbury, and retired from the former Bridgeport Brass where she was an inspector for many years.

She is survived by two nieces, Patricia Ruscoe-Ferris of Northampton, Mass., and Melanie K. Leibold and her husband, Robert, of Ludlow, Mass.; one great-niece, Dianne M. Ferris of New Hampshire; and one great-nephew, Sean M. Leibold and his wife, Jennifer, and great-great-nephew, Tyler Sean Leibold, all of East Hartford. Besides her parents, Ms Kawiecki was predeceased by two sisters, Mae J. Kawiecki of Newtown and Stella M. Ruscoe, formerly of Danbury and Palmer, Mass.

 A liturgy of Christian burial was held November 8 at the St Casimir Church, Terryville. Burial followed in St Mary’s Cemetery, Terryville.

Memorial donations may be made to a local animal shelter.
