A Harvest Tasting

To the Editor:

On Saturday, October 6, the Newtown Scholarship Association hosted its first annual Harvest Wine and Beer Tasting fundraiser at Rock Ridge Country Club in Newtown.

On behalf of the Board of Governors of the NSA, I’d like to thank those who helped make this event a huge success, raising over $17,000 for this worthy organization. In particular, thanks go to event sponsor People’s Bank, and to Rock Ridge Country Club, Sandy Hook Wine & Liquors, Taunton Wine & Liquor, Yankee Fine Wines & Liquors, and Shop & Save Liquors of Newtown. We give a special thank you to Scott Randall of Star Distributors, and to our own Bob Murray and his committee, who worked tirelessly organizing this fundraiser. Finally, our appreciation goes to all the generous folks who attended the wine tasting and supported our fundraiser. We look forward to seeing you again next year.

Since its founding in 1937, the NSA has awarded about $3 million in need-based financial aid to hundreds of students from Newtown pursuing a higher education.
