Pops Concert To Light Up The Holiday Season

BRIDGEPORT — “A Family Holiday Pops” — the theme of the third subscription concert of Greater Bridgeport Symphony’s 54th season — will feature a festive collage concert celebrating the holiday season on Saturday, December 11.

Under the baton of guest conductor Delta David Gier, the orchestra will perform selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Handel’s Judas Maccabeus (Overture), and Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride. Members of the orchestra will also showcase their individual talents, performing traditional carols, Hanukkah favorites, and other popular tunes.

The 8 pm performance will take place at Klein Memorial Auditorium, 910 Fairfield Avenue. The Klein is easily reached from all major routes. Free, attended parking is provided for symphony patrons at the new municipal parking facility located directly across the street from the hall.

December 11 concertgoers will be treated to a pre-concert program with the GBS Brass Ensemble in the inner lobby of the Klein at 7 pm.

Single ticket costs range from $16 to $43. Students under 18 will be admitted at half-price in certain price categories, and special discount rates are available for groups of ten or more.

For reservations and information, call the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Office at 203/576-0263; Visa and MasterCard are accepted. The Klein box office will be open only on the day of the concert, beginning at 1 pm.
