Marimba & Vibraphone Concert In Ridgefield
RIDGEFIELD â On Sunday, November 21, David Smith, a marimba and vibraphone performer, will appear in concert at St Stephenâs Church at 4 pm. Mr Smith holds the position of principal percussionist with New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

The program will include a kaleidoscope of timbres and styles as the performer takes his audience through a mini tour of the development of the marimba as a classical solo instrument.
Compositions will range from the programmatic Suite for Marimba by Alfred Fissinger to Five Preludes for Vibraphone (written by one of Mr Smithâs students, Drew Wainacht), to an impressionistic work for vibraphone entitled Reflections, by Lynn Glasic. Variations on Lost Love, written for solo marimba by David Maslanka, will conclude the concert.
