DCO To Perform Purcell’s ‘Dido And Aeneas’

DANBURY — The Danbury Concert Chorus (DCO) will present a semi-staged production of Henry Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas on Saturday, November 20, at 8 pm, at Rogers Park Middle School.

Leslie Eckstein, the music director of DCO, will direct the chorus and members of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra in this performance.

Based loosely on Book IV of Virgil’s Aeneid, the opera tells the story of Dido and Aeneas, whose love is sabotaged by evil witches. Ms Eckstein will explain the plot of the opera, which is sung in English, prior to the start of the performance.

Audience members are invited to bring non-perishable food goods to the performance, which the chorus will donate to local food banks.
