Candidates Sought For Rotary-Sponsored Overseas Travel
Area Rotary clubs are offering two foreign study trips to young Connecticut business and professional people under Rotaryâs Group Study Exchange program. The program promotes international understanding by exchanging visits of young professionals with their counterparts in other countries. Applications are now being accepted for eight available positions; four each to Argentina and South Africa for four to five weeks travel during the weeks of April, 2000.
All travel and living expenses for the month-long trips will be paid by Rotary. Participants will be hosted by Rotarian families in the two countries. This once-in-a-lifetime trip will provide the eight selected applicants with unique cultural and vocational opportunities.
Led by Connecticut Rotarians, the GSE team members will gain a deep understanding of the host country, meet with persons who practice their professions, participate in family life in a foreign country and be able to develop lasting personal and professional relationships.
Applicants must be US citizens, between the ages of 25 and 40, and be enthusiastic about their respective vocations. Company personnel directors are urged to review their up and coming employees and consider the international experience they would receive as a benefit to their company as they advance up the ladder of management. Interested persons should contact their local Rotary Club president or Ed Osterman at 203/426-0530.
Last yearâs two Group Study Exchange programs were between Connecticut District 7980 (lower four counties) and Germany and Turkey.
