Hit Guardrail
Newtown Police report Roque Fierro, 33, of New Haven, operating a 2021 Ram Promaster, was traveling southbound on Hattertown Road at 12:35 pm October 21. Fierro told police she left a driveway on Hattertown Road and immediately lost control of the vehicle, going onto the curb and striking a guardrail.
No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was mentioned in the report.
Improper Turn
Newtown Police report Donna Giles, 66, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2016 Ford Explorer, was traveling southbound on Berkshire Road at 12:51 pm October 26. Pamela Lewis, 64, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2017 Nissan Rogue, was traveling southbound on Berkshire Road. Giles turned right onto Sherman Street and began to perform a U-turn to turn back onto Berkshire Road, pulling back onto Berkshire Road before striking Lewis’ vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed.
Giles was issued an infraction for making an improper turn.
Collision Leaving Stop Sign
Newtown Police report Amber Edwards, 64, of Newtown, operating a 2018 Volkswagen Golf, was traveling westbound on Barnabas Road at 9:45 am October 28. Ryan Forte, 21, of Brookfield, operating a 2014 Ram Truck 1500, was traveling southbound on Hawleyville Road. Edwards stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Hawleyville Road, and then turned left into the southbound lane of Hawleyville Road, striking Forte’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Edwards received a verbal warning for failure to grant right of way after leaving a stop sign.
Mirror Struck
Newtown Police report William Brady, 25, of Newtown, operating a 2018 Honda Civic, was traveling northbound on Swamp Road at 9:45 pm October 28. An unknown object struck the right driver’s side mirror, causing minor damage.
No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not towed.
No enforcement action taken.
Truck Strikes Wires
Newtown Police report Wayne Sharp, 63, of North Haven, operating a 2019 Peterbilt tractor trailer, was traveling in the parking lot of 18 Commerce Road at 5:12 pm October 29. The front, top edge of the trailer made contact with the communication wires leading from a CL&P utility pole. The wires were pulled down.
No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
Collision In Intersection
Newtown Police report Gerardo Vargas de la Cruz, 27, of Bridgeport, operating a 2011 GMC Terrain, was traveling westbound on Church Hill Road at 9:10 am October 30. Kara Dogali, 41, of Newtown, operating a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas, was traveling northbound on Main Street. Vargas de la Cruz entered the intersection of Main Street and subsequently collided with Dogali’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Vargas de la Cruz was issued an infraction for operating without a license and failure to grant right of way while leaving a stop sign.
Burglary, Larceny Charges
Newtown Police report that at 12:45 pm November 1, Stratford Police contacted the Newtown Police Department to inform them that Stratford had taken Ramon Guance, 49, of Stratford, into custody for an active arrest warrant that Newtown currently holds for him.
Guance was transported to Newtown and charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny.
Guance was released on a $5,000 bond with a court date of November 12.
Improper Left Turn
Newtown Police report Alrick Man, 64, of Newtown, operating a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling southbound on Main Street at 2:33 pm November 3. Brian Walsh, 38, of Trumbull, operating a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse, was stopped in the westbound travel lane of School House Hill Road at a stop sign, waiting to turn onto Main Street. Man turned left onto School House Hill Road and struck Walsh’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Man was issued an infraction for operating an unregistered motor vehicle and a verbal warning for making an improper left turn.
Restricted Turn
Newtown Police report Jackson Molison, 16, of Newtown, operating a 1999 BMW 328i, was exiting the parking lot of Hilario’s onto Mt Pleasant Road at 4:30 pm November 4. Montoya Bernal, 36, of Danbury, operating a 2022 Toyota Highlander, was traveling southbound on Mt Pleasant Road. Molison pulled out and struck Bernal’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Molison was issued a verbal warning for making a restricted turn.
