Saab Vs Honda

About 8:34 am on November 7, motorist Jack Tom, 67, of Monroe, who was driving a 2017 Honda Civic northward on Mount Pleasant Road, near an intersection with Blackman Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Honda was struck from behind by a northbound 2007 Saab 9-3 auto driven by Michael Carafiello, 25, of Newtown, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Carafiello for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Warrant

Police report that on the evening of November 7, they arrested Francis Carisio, 32, of Wolcott on a warrant, charging him with two counts of sixth-degree larceny.

The warrant stems from a police investigation into a September 10 complaint from a person at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street. After processing, police released Carisio for a November 20 court appearance on the charges.

Interstate Collision

State police report a two-vehicle accident about 12:33 pm on November 3 on westbound Interstate 84, near its Exit 9 on-ramp.

Motorist Aurelian Pop, 56, of Seymour, who was driving a 2017 Honda HR-V SUV, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by a 2015 Jeep Patriot SUV driven by Julia Brown, 20, of Austin, Texas. There were no injuries. Brown received a written warning for following too closely, according to state police.

Acura Vs Median

About 10:52 pm on November 2, motorist Ismael Cuadros, 16, of Wethersfield, who was driving a 2004 Acura TSX auto on eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 11 on-ramp, veered to the left and struck an earthen embankment on the highway’s median, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police verbally warned Cuadros for failure to maintain the proper lane.

Accident Warrant

Police said that on November 1, they charged Christine Caruso, 31, of Sandy Hook on a warrant in connection with an early July motor vehicle accident that occurred on Schoolhouse Hill Road.

Police charged Caruso with evading responsibility with a motor vehicle and with failure to drive in the proper lane.

Police allege that in July, Caruso was driving a vehicle near 58 Schoolhouse Hill Road, when the vehicle drove off the pavement, struck some curbing, hit a mailbox, and then damaged private property, including lawn ornaments, and then left the scene before police arrived to investigate.

Following arrest processing on November 1, police released Caruso from custody on a written promise to appear in court on November 15.

Congested Area

At about 7 pm on November 1, amid heavy traffic, motorist Timothy Francois, 62, of Newtown was driving a 2008 Acura MDX SUV southward near 7 Main Street, after which he stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist Keith Reszoly, 26, of Newtown, who was driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Reszoly for following too closely.

BMW Vs Pole

Motorist Stephanie Edwards, 19, of Sandy Hook was driving a 2004 BMW 325-XI eastward on Point O’ Rocks Road, near its intersection with Deep Brook Road, about 4:18 pm, on October 31, when while negotiating a right curve in the roadway, the auto skidded and went out of control, drove off the left road shoulder, and hit a utility pole, police said.

There were no injuries, Police issued Edwards an infraction for failure to keep to the right on a curve.

SUV Hits Bridge

At about 2:28 am on October 29, motorist Rachel Pires, 23, of Seymour was driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV eastward on Meadowbrook Road, just west of Lazybrook Road, when the vehicle, which was traveling near a narrow bridge, drove off the right road shoulder and then struck a bridge support wall, police said.

The impact damaged the bridge and the SUV. There were no injuries. Police issued Pires an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Intersection

Police report that motorist Jose Luis Ynfante-Mateo, 30, of Danbury, was driving a 2003 Dodge Stratus auto eastward on Berkshire Road and then attempted to make a right to enter southbound Jordan Hill Road at about 7:23 am on October 29.

At that time, motorist Kerry Kazmercyk, 47, of Monroe, who was driving a 2011 GMC Terrain SUV, was stopped at a stop sign on northbound Jordan Hill Road and was waiting to make a left turn onto westbound Berkshire Road, police said. Amid wet conditions, the Dodge struck the GMC.

There were no injuries. Ynfante-Mateo left the accident scene, but was later located. Police issued Ynfante-Mateo an infraction for making an improper turn.

Jeep Hits Nissan

About 4:04 am on October 28, on westbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, a Jeep Cherokee SUV driven by an unknown person struck the rear end of a 2017 Nissan Altima sedan driven by a Florida man, state police said. The Jeep then drove away from the accident scene.

The man who was driving the Nissan was treated for his injuries at Danbury Hospital, state police said. They ask anyone with information on the accident to contact investigating Trooper First Class Gaspar at Troop A in Southbury at 203-267-2200.
