EAST SANDWICH, MASS. â The Cape Cod Glass Club will gather for its eighth annual Christmas celebration on Tuesday, December 4, at 1 pm in the Hirschmann Theater of the Sandwich Glass Museum, 129 Main Street.
Members, guests and the public are urged to bring refreshments on their favorite glass dishes. Refreshments will be served at 1 pm prior to the clubâs regular meeting at 1:30. Gail and Steve Almeida of Lakeville, Mass., will then present Antique Christmas Tree Ornaments.
During the Christmas season the Almeida home is resplendent with 18 trees decorated with ornaments acquired over the last 25 years. The couple will talk about the history of Christmas traditions and show part of their collection.
The Cape Cod Glass Club is a not-for-profit chapter of the National American Glass Club. It is dedicated to the study and appreciation of glass regardless of the type or period, with emphasis on American glass.
The Cape Cod chapter meets monthly from October to December and from March to June. Activities include formal lectures, informal study sessions and visits to museums and working glassmakers.
The March 4 meeting will also be held at the Sandwich Glass Museum. Alice Walsh, editor of the National American Glass Club newsletter Glass Shards, will discuss the use of ultraviolet light in identifying types of glass in her talk, âBlack Light: Finding the Hidden Beauty of Your Glass.â
