Saugatuck Reservoir Trails Hike

WESTON — On Sunday, November 19, from 9 am to 3 pm, The Nature Conservancy’s Devil’s Den Preserve is offering a day hike along approximately 8 to 10 miles of the 50-mile Saugatuck Valley Trails System.

The hike leaders will be Den natural history guides Charles Gereg, Eric Nelson, and Peg Peterson.

The hike will feature reservoir views and trails, lunch at the Great Ledge, and portions of trails along the northeastern edge of the 1,756-acre Devil’s Den Preserve on the Weston/Redding border.

This will be a great opportunity for hikers to enjoy some spectacular scenery at the end of the leaf season, to learn about the history of man and nature in the area, and to think about how watershed lands protect and maintain a pure drinking water supply.

Participants should pack a snack lunch to eat at the overlook, wear sturdy walking shoes, and bring water. Call Devil’s Den at 203/226-4991 weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm, for reservations and directions to the off-site parking location.
