Family Nature Walk At Devil's Den
Family Nature Walk At Devilâs Den
WESTON â Wild turkeys have been sighted a lot lately at Devilâs Den, a 1,756-acre nature preserve located on the Weston/Redding border and is owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy. The turkeys are hunting for acorns and nuts in The Denâs mature oak-and-hickory forest.
To celebrate the turkey and Thanksgiving, The Den is offering a family nature walk on Sunday, November 19, from 1 to 3 pm. This will be a great opportunity for the entire family to be introduced to the natural and human history of The Den, the largest contiguous nature preserve in southwestern Connecticut.
Participants will be on the lookout for food for wildlife and the tracks that will reveal the identities of these hungry Den residents. The walk leaders will be Dr Ben Oko and Helene Weatherill.
There is no charge for the program, but reservations are required. Interested participants should telephone the Devilâs Den office at 203/226-4991 weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm to register for the program or to receive directions and further information.
