Christopher Carolan, son of Kevin Carolan of Sandy Hook, was elected to be a residence senator at Saint Michaelâs College. He is a first year business administration major at Saint Michaelâs, a liberal arts, Catholic college, located in the Burlington, Vermont area. He is a graduate of Newtown High School.
As a senator in a residence hall, Mr Carolan reports to the Student Association and is the liaison between the students and the administration. He is responsible for the publicity for hall and area

events. In addition, Mr Carolan holds a seat on the Student Senate and serves on two Student Association committees.
Kristen Bandura, a recent graduate of Newtown High School, was awarded with a McDonaldâs Scholarship through the Arching Into Education Scholarship Program. She is attending the University of Richmond in Virginia.

Miss Bandura with a $1,000 scholarship. This year $430,000 in scholarships was available for local students in the tri-state area through McDonaldâs restaurants.
Joshua Stern has matriculated as a member of the Class of 2004 at Dartmouth College. He is the son of Michael L. and Karen B. Stern of Newtown.
Marc Nespoli of Newtown is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He recently received a 2000 Rock Sleyster, MD, and Memorial Scholarship from the American Medical Association Foundation. The fund annually awards approximately 20 scholarships to assist medical students with an interest in psychiatry.
Stephen Dukenski of Newtown earned a Presidential Scholarship from Elmira College. He plans to major in classical studies and plays with the Pep Band. Mr Dukenski is the son of Rev Carolyn and Ronald Dukenski and a 2000 graduate of Newtown High School.
Rhoda K. Tamakloe, a senior at Phillips Exeter Academy, has been recognized for academic achievement and named a semifinalist in the 2001 National Achievement Scholarship Program. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Nelson S. Tamakloe of Sandy Hook.
