Theft From Vehicle

Police said they learned November 4 that at about 9 am October 4 someone entered an unlocked motor vehicle which was parked in front of the Big Y supermarket on Queen Street and stole credit cards and checks from it.

Police ask anyone who has information about the incident to contact them.

Statuary Located

Police report that on October 23 a Crabapple Lane resident found a small piece of statuary on his front lawn. Anyone missing a statue is asked to contact police.

Orchard Hill DWI

Police said motorist Allen Kellogg, 28, of 13 Ox Hill Road, drove into a utility pole on Orchard Hill Road on the night of November 7.

Police said Kellogg failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while intoxicated and making a restricted turn. Police released him on bond for a November 18 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Riverside Road

Motorist Alyson L. Metz, 25, of Danbury, who was driving a 1994 Acura Integra, was heading eastbound on Riverside Road November 6 and was starting to turn left to enter Narragansett Trail when she was struck by westbound motorist Maureen S. Folk, 36, of 48 Alpine Circle, who was driving a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta. Folk and a passenger in the Volkswagen, Megan Garafolo, 2, were treated for injuries at the scene by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said. Police issued Metz an infraction ticket for making an improper turn.

 

Drug Charges

Police said they lodged drug charges against two youths November 5 at Newtown High School.

Police charged Stephen Karolczuk, 17, of 30 Hanover Road with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Karolczuk was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court November 19 to answer the charges.

Police said they charged an 11-year-old youth with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana. The youth is slated to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court November 17. The names of offenders under age 16 are shielded from public disclosure by state law.

Route 302 DWI

Police said they saw motorist Marsha Nomakeo, 34, of Waterbury crossing the road’s double center lines on Route 302 November 5. Police said they stopped Nomakeo and gave her field sobriety tests, which she failed.

Police charged her with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive to the right. After processing, police released her for a November 18 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Guard Rail Collision

Motorist Nicole LaFrancesca, 16, of 6 Founders Lane, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1999 Hyundai coupe November 2, was attempting to negotiate a left curve on the Interstate-84 eastbound on-ramp at Exit 10 and lost control of the car, striking the guard railing along the right road shoulder, state police said.

LaFrancesca was not injured, state police said. State police said she was driving too fast for conditions.

 

Intersection Crash

Police said motorist Wendy P. Myerson, 32, of Monroe, who was driving a 1994 Ford Taurus, drove into the rear end of a 1997 Ford station wagon driven by Peter A. Januska, 78, of Fairfield about 3 pm November 6 at the intersection of Routes 25 and 302. Rose Januska, 76, of Fairfield, a passenger in the station wagon, was treated at the scene by the ambulance corps, police said. Police issued Myerson a written warning for following too closely and failure to carry a vehicle registration.
