Traffic — both human and vehicular — was heavy in and around Newtown’s three polling locations throughout the day November 6, as more than 12,500 voters headed out to cast ballots in multiple federal, state, and regional contests.

Local voters also heavily favored a ballot authorization to fund development of a new police headquarters, and two statewide constitutional questions involving transportation funds and the conveyance of state land and property — that were similarly endorsed statewide.

Newtown Registrars LeReine Frampton and Carey Shierloh provided The Newtown Bee with unofficial polling data at around 6 am Wednesday, November 7, after thoroughly vetting ballot results and performing a hand count of hundreds of paper ballots that were issued after the Town Clerk’s Office exhausted its pre-ordered supply of absentee ballots.

While results are not deemed official until certified by Town Clerk Debbie Halstead, the registrars provided the following data as verified but unofficial results (candidates receiving zero votes, including write-ins, are not included):
