To the Editor:

Thankfully, election day is almost here and this nightmare of a Presidential election will be over.

However, on a local level we also have an election to consider with the opportunity to choose candidates to represent us in Hartford. For me the choice is an easy one.

First let us consider who we want to represent us for the 106

th District. I will be voting for Eva Zimmerman. She has the intelligence, energy, enthusiasm, and relationships in the legislature that she developed as an advocate for the last 13 years to give Newtown the kind of representation that we need in Hartford. We have some experience with Eva as she served us well locally as a Legislative Council Member for District 2. She is a good listener, asks good questions and first and foremost has been and will be responsive to her constituents. She is a strong advocate for quality education and will press for our fair share of state aid to help keep our town affordable.

We also have the chance to elect a Democrat to represent us in the 28

th State Senate District for the first time in almost 40 years! I will be voting for Philip Dwyer. Phil is a person with the experience, integrity and leadership skills that will serve us well. He has many years of distinguished community service, both as CEO of the Fairfield YMCA and as chair of the Fairfield Board of Education . I believe that he has the experience we need to improve services with limited resources. Phil says that he is "running because he wants to make it easier to foster innovation and ensure Connecticut has the most educated workforce." Phil will be the kind of statesSenator we need.

On next Tuesday, please join me in voting for the entire Democratic team, Eva, Phil, Sharon Dornfeld for Judge of Probate, LeReine Frampton for Registrar of Voters, Elizabeth Esty for Congress, and Richard Blumenthal for US Senator.

Sincerely,

Herb Rosenthal
