Watercolor Wednesday,
Easy As 1-2-3
Carmen Lund will be demonstrating in watercolor at a meeting of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) on Wednesday, November 12, at 7:30 pm. She will be explaining and demonstrating her specially designed method of making watercolor easy to understand, âWatercolor Simply 1-2-3.â
The meeting and Ms Lundâs program are open to the public and will be at Newtown Meeting House (lower level), 31 Main Street (at the flagpole) in Newtown. All are welcome and admission is free.
Ms Lundâs work has been shown and collected in the United States, Europe, South America and Asia. In addition to exhibiting, Ms Lund teaches private and group painting classes and workshops in New York and Connecticut. She is on the faculty of Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan.
In 1991 Ms Lund was invited to exhibit at The Museum of Modern Art in Fort Lauderdale. The exhibit, â20th Century Flower Paintings,â included artists such as Matisse, Picasso and Georgia OâKeefe. This exhibit was followed in 1993 by a solo show at Plum Blossom Gallery in Hong Kong and Singapore.
In 1998, after Ms Lund was invited to paint in Giverny with a few other artists, another interesting opportunity presented itself: She was commissioned by a family living in Hong Kong to paint a portrait of their garden at their Westhampton summer home. The clients said that Ms Lundâs painting captivated the very essence and spirit of their garden and kept their garden in bloom year round.
Since that first commission, in addition to her floral and nature paintings in watercolor and acrylics, Ms Lund now devotes a part of her time to painting garden commissions for clients who are enchanted by flowers as she is.
