Open Hearth Cooking

At Curtiss House

On Sunday, November 9, from 1 to 4 pm, The Matthew Curtiss House docents will demonstrate the complex art of cooking a complete meal on an open hearth. They will manage the fire, demonstrate various tools and techniques, and time the different courses to yield a hearty meal fit for a colonial family.

Costumed guides will be available for tours of the Matthew Curtiss House, at 44 Main Street in Newtown. The open house and hearth cooking demonstration are free and open to the public.
