Merryhill Says Thanks
Merryhill Says Thanks
To the Editor:
The Merryhill children, parents, and teachers would like to extend a heartfelt âThank Youâ to all who came to the Touch-A-Truck and Fall Fun Day, Saturday, October 18.
We were so pleased to see so many children come to explore the many trucks and vehicles on display. The fire truck, police car, cement truck, and tow truck were some of the favorites!
Bill Robinsonâs Wildlife Show presented two wonderful shows during the day, noon and 2 pm. Both shows were crowded and the children and adults loved all the wonderful birds and snakes.
A special thanks to the following businesses and individuals for donating items or their time to our event: Newtown Dunkinâ Donuts, Ross Consulting LLC, Jensen Tire, Auto & Marine, Newtown Police, Newtown Hook & Ladder, 2nd Company Governor Horse Guard, Castle Hill Farms, Taunton Press, Goodfellas Apizza, Officer Shubert, Officer McGowan, Jim Beard, Vinny Shumacher, Dan Doherty, Corey Schuld, Pam & Steve Heckendorf, Kevin Grover, John Ross, Greg Huhn, Mark Forlenzo, Carla Tishio, Tom Harrity, Mario Cruz, Lisa Ayr, and Ronnie & Eddie Jensen. Our apologies if we left anyone off of this list.
We would also like to congratulate our cow chip raffle winners: first prize of $500 went to Jill E. Coyne, Newtown; second prize of $250 went to Sue Rubino, Sandy Hook; third prize of $100 went to Michael Huhn, Sandy Hook.
In addition, three beautiful gift baskets were donated by the Huhn Family of Sandy Hook. The winners of those baskets were: Allen Currier, Jr, of Newtown, Pam Buchler of Newtown, and Annalea Mace of Monroe.
Thanks to the generosity of so many we were able to begin some necessary improvements to the childrenâs playground area. The new ground material will be installed in a few weeks as well as sanding and repainting some of the older equipment. More repairs are scheduled for the spring when the weather gets warmer. Additional fundraisers will be scheduled for 2004 to help fund the remainder of the new playground equipment. If you would like to make a contribution to the playground fund, please send your tax-deductible donation to: Merryhill Child Care Center, Inc, Attn: Playground Donation Fund, 49 Queen Street, Newtown, CT 06470.
Finally, I would like to thank the wonderful fundraising committee and teachers of Merryhill, who worked for months preparing for this event. They are: Ronnie Jensen, Tricia Harrity, Carla Tischio, Marina Moscovici, Karen Tuller, Jennifer Ciaccio, Dawn Walencik, Patricia Minalgo, Susan Tarshis, Emily Stefanko, and Melissa Quinn. A special thank you to the director of Merryhill, Michelle Kean, for her many late hours, creative craft ideas, and pulling the parents and teachers together to make this event a success.
