Birthday Bash For Founder
Newtown Girl Scouts recently celebrated their second annual Halloween Birthday Bash in the Edmond Town Hall gym. The event honored Girl Scouts USA founder Juliette Low, born October 31, 1860.
More than 60 registered girl scouts from eight troops in the Newtown Service Unit of the Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut took part, including Brownies and Daises (grades Kâ3). In addition to commemorating the life of Juliette Low, the bash gave scouts an opportunity to celebrate that other October 31 event. The festivities included a dozen Halloween-themed attractions, including a costume parade and cupcake decorating station.
âThe Birthday Bash is a time for Brownies and Daises to come together for fun, food, frights, and fellowship,â said Donna Mangiafico, Girl Scouts service unit leader. âWe are grateful for the strong support shown to our girls by local businesses and individuals.â
Sponsors included Joyâs Hallmark, the Newtown Public Works Department, Mucci Construction of Shelton, Michelle Grillo, and Jeffrey Boyle.
