A Safer Halloween
A Safer Halloween
To the Editor:
If you were out and about on Main Street Halloween Night you saw what seemed like hundreds of kids and parents trick-or-treating for candy.
You also saw a huge police presence managing traffic and crowd control. There were police cars with lights flashing and officers along Main Street at Currituck Road, Church Hill Road, and at 302 as well as orange cones in the middle of the street to slow traffic.
We have always been concerned for the safety of the trick-or-treaters trying to cross from one side of Main Street to the other. This year, and we hope for years to come, our fears were allayed.
Our congratulations to the Newtown Police Department for a job well done!
Dorethy, Oona, Richard Mulligan
and especially the kids,
Brandon and Keenan
