John J.     Basista, Sr
John J. Basista, Sr, 79, of Monroe, beloved husband of the late Jeannette A. Basista, died November 5 at St Vincentâs Medical Center, Bridgeport.
He was the brother of Anne Zitnay of Newtown.
Mr Basista was born in Bridgeport and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy Seabeeâs. John retired as a carpenter for the American Fabrics Company.
Survivors include a beloved son, John J. Basista, Jr, and his wife Susan of Mt Dora, Fla.; a beloved daughter, Marie Dragonette and her husband Robert, Jr, of Monroe; another sister, Marge Rogers of Monroe; and three loving granddaughters, Jennifer Ann Basista, Donna Sabrina, and Gina Maria Dragonette. He was predeceased by two sisters, Frances Horvath and Mae Bruzenak.
Services will be held on Friday, November 9, at 9:30 am in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street (Route 25), Monroe, and at 10 am at St Jude Church. Interment will be in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford.
Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, November 8, from 4 to 8 pm.
