Sgt Stephanie York, formerly of Sandy Hook, was recently deployed to Kosovo for a peacekeeping mission. Ms York is a medic with Charlie Company 47th Forward Support Battalion in Baumholder, Germany. She is the squad leader of the evacuation platoon.

Ms York has spent five years in the army. She was previously stationed at Fort Bragg, before receiving orders to Germany in June.

She is a 1992 graduate of Newtown High School and is the daughter of Frances McCutchan and Lawrence Kayfus, both of Sandy Hook.

Allison Grant, daughter of Stephen and Susan Grant of Newtown and a senior at Canterbury School in New Milford, has been named to the Honor Roll for the first marking period of the 2000-2001 school year.
