Master Floral Gardener In Danbury
DANBURY â On Friday, November 17, Danbury Garden Club will present the award-winning master floral designer J. Barry Ferguson as the featured guest speaker for the clubâs annual holiday luncheon. The program and lunch will be held at The Amber Room Colonnade.
Mr Ferguson was born in Wellington, New Zealand, studied botany at Victoria University College in Wellington, and was awarded a diploma from the Society of New Zealand Professional Florists.
He lectured for Interflora in Australia, traveled around the world to study plants and gardens, and came to the United States in 1969. He has spent time as a designer for the City Gardener in Manhattan, lectured, led tours, and maintained plantings at Greenacre Park in New York City, as well as supplying floral designs for Malcolm Forbes, Steven Spielberg and the Rockefellers.
In 1998, he was the first recipient of the Frances Jones Poetker Award presented by the American Horticultural Society. His book Living With Flowers earned him the Quill & Trowel Award by Garden Writers Association of America.
