‘Luminary Landscapes’ At Beaux Arts

WOODBURY — Beaux Arts Gallery’s next major exhibition will present works by Southbury artist Tom Adkins. “Luminary Landscape — Scenes of Woodbury, Southbury and Martha’s Vineyard” will open to the public on November 13; a reception will be held at the gallery on November 18, from 4 to 7 pm. The exhibit and sale will continue through January 9.

Tom Adkins has lived in New England most of his life, and he feels the atmosphere and light found here is quite unique. He has successfully mastered and captured these qualities in these new oil paintings.

Mr Adkins’ keen and perceptive approach to depicting scenes of farm and country locations near Woodbury and Southbury and throughout western Connecticut permits the viewer to appreciate these areas more than they do already. After seeing his paintings, everyday surroundings are seen with a renewed sense of awe, wonder and humility. The exhibit will present pieces worked on over the span of two years.

Tom Adkins has studied at the Paier School of Art in Hamden and at the School of Visual Arts, New York.

Beaux Arts Gallery is at 16 Sherman Hill Road, immediately off Route 6/Main Street South. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 4:30 pm. Call 203/263-3939 for further information.
