Ingram On Navy Log
Ingram On Navy Log
WASHINGTON, D.C. â An admiral in Washington says Ernest Ingram of Sandy Hook is truly an American hero. Rear Admiral Henry C. McKinney, US Navy (retired), president of the US Navy Memorial Foundation in Washington, announced that the name of Ernest Ingram has been enshrined in the Navy Log at the US Navy Memorial, the national monument in Washington, DC, which honors all who have served in Americaâs naval services. The log is in the Naval Heritage Center next to the memorial on Pennsylvania Avenue midway between the White House and the Capitol.
Mr Ingramâs record of service is permanently inscribed and celebrated on the Heritage Centerâs Log Room interactive video displays. âThis is where we keep track of some real American heroes who have served their country in the naval service. They did their duty in a tough environment, away from home and never far from danger. The founders of the Navy Memorial consider them heroes,â said Admiral McKinney. The log is also on the Internet at www.lonesailor.org, where surfers may clock on a âNavy Logâ button to initiate a name search.
The Navy Memorial Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization which built and now operates the Navy Memorial and adjoining Naval Heritage Center. Navy Log enrollments help support the Foundationâs values-based naval heritage educational programs. Information about enrolling in the Log may be obtained on the Web site or by writing Navy Log, 701 Pennsylvania Ave., Suite 123, Washington, DC 20004.
