DANBURY - Danbury Public Library is continuing its celebration of National Authors' Day (November 1) with a month-long display of materials written by Connecticut residents.

DANBURY — Danbury Public Library is continuing its celebration of National Authors’ Day (November 1) with a month-long display of materials written by Connecticut residents.

The display, entitled “Discovering Connecticut Authors,” features works of authors such as Mike Nichols, Anne Edwards, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Mark Twain, Frank McCourt, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Arthur Miller.

Additionally, a soon-to-be-released book by Danbury resident Theodore R. Treadwell is be part of the display and available to borrow. Mr Treadwell was the former commanding officer of SC 648 in the South Pacific during World War II.

In his book, Splinter Fleet: The Wooden Subchasers of World War II, Mt Treadwell tells the stories of the men aboard the cramped 110-foot Subchasers, the smallest commissioned warships in the US Navy.
