Following Spirit Week at Newtown High School and ahead of the NHS football team taking on Brookfield that night, a pep rally gathered students into the stands at Blue & Gold Stadium near the end of the school day on Friday, October 24.

Students filled the stadium and dotted the athletic field with school colors, as Friday was also Blue & Gold Day during Spirit Week.

The pep rally highlighted teams, clubs, and other student programs at the school by having student representatives from each group speak.

The Marching Band & Guard, the dance team, and the NHS Cheerleaders also performed during the event.

Near the end of the rally, a Teacher vs Student game of tug-of-war was held. After five matches, the teachers won 3 to 2.

A relay game was also conducted, with each grade level of the school represented.

By the end of the rally, NHS seniors were named as the winner of the new Spirit Stick.

Newtown High School students tried not to cross the line during a game of tug-of-war against teachers as NHS teacher Jason Edwards, who acted as the announcer for the pep rally, surveyed the line.
