18th Annual Crafts Festival
BROOKFIELD â The Brookfield Historical Society will sponsor its 18th Annual Festival of Crafts on Saturday, November 7. The wares of more than sixty juried vendors will be offered for sale. The festival will be held at Whisconier Middle School, on West Whisconier Road (off Route 25).
Hours are 9 am to 4 pm.
Among the vendors this year are seven from Newtown including Bob Nosal selling furniture primitives, Aileen Spak with cross stitch items, Sandy Ferris offering soft sculptures, Maureen Crick Owen featuring unique photographs, Marilyn Marushiak marketing decorative baskets, Suzanne Pisano of Suziedesign with custom jewelery, and Stacey Olszewski of Old Green Road with art selections.
According to Ms Olszewski, who is serving as event manager again this year, âThe upcoming crafts festival will feature many returning exhibiters and a number of new vendors, primarily from the surrounding area. In these trying economic times the mostly hand made crafts will provide buyers with a unique opportunity to purchase, truly, one of a kind gifts, at reasonable prices.â
The Festival of Crafts has grown to be among the largest and most successful pre-holiday sales events of its kind in the northeast region of the state. Among the many item for sale this year are jewelry, decorative pieces, pottery, folk art, photographic and print selections, personal grooming articles, soaps, soft sculptures, clothing, baskets, handbags, candles, assorted holiday treasures, edible delicacies, wood crafts, pet items and a host of diverse choices that can be bought as gifts or for home use. Â
There will also be a food court available for visitors to purchase soup, sandwiches, snacks and drinks.
Admission for adults is $5, or $4 with a coupon that can be downloaded from Brookfield Historical Societyâs website (BrookfieldCTHistory.org). Children 12 and under will be admitted enter free.
