The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, a disturbing, yet hopeful drama, continues on weekends at The Little Theater in Newtown through November 24.

The production, being directed by Suzanne Kinnear of Bethel, features Lori Peck of Newtown as Beatrice, Caroline Winschel of Monroe as Tillie, Beth English of Newtown as Ruth, Sarah McSweeney of Newtown as Janice Vickery, and Ruth Schofield of Sandy Hook as Nanny. The play centers on a single mother, trying to support herself and her two daughters by taking in a series of decrepit old boarders. One daughter is a pretty, high-strung girl, who is subject to convulsions while the other daughter is plain and pathologically shy but has an intuitive gift for science.

The playwright won a Pulitzer Prize and an Obie Award for this play.

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8. There is one matinee scheduled for Sunday, November 18, at 2 pm. All seats are $10.
