Auditions In Wilton For

Classic American Drama

WILTON — Wilton Playshop will host auditions on Sunday and Monday, November 18-19, for Our Town, the classic American drama by Thorton Wilder. The Wilton production will be performed weekends beginning January 25 and continuing through February 9, with evening and one Sunday matinee performances.

The cast requires 14 to 16 males (depending on doubling), seven females, plus extras. Auditions will begin at 7 pm both nights. Callbacks are scheduled for Wednesday, November 21.

Featured roles include the stage manager, a male, in his forties or older; Dr Gibbs, the town doctor, early to mid-40s; Mrs Gibbs, his wife, early to mid-40s; Mr Webb, the town editor, early to mid-40s; Mrs Webb, his wife, early to mid-40s; George Gibbs, later teens to early 20s; Emily Webb, later teens to early 20s; Mrs Soames, a neighbor, age 40s to 60s; and Simon Stimson, the choir director who “drinks,” in his late 30s or older.

Supporting roles include Rebecca Gibbs, in her early-to-mid teens; Wally Webb, early to mid-teens; Joe Crowell, paperboy, late teens to 20s; Si Crowell, a teenager; Howie Newsome, the milkman, in his 20s or 30s; Professor Willard, 40s to 60s; Constable Bill Warren, 30s to 50s; the undertaker Joe Stoddard, in his 40s to 60s; Sam Craig, late 20s to 30s; three ballplayers, each in their late teens or early 20s; a lady in the box, a woman in the balcony, and a man in the auditorium, all of unspecified ages.
