The Elves Fair:

A Big Day For Little People

The Elves Fair will be in full swing again this year on Saturday, November 18, at Housatonic Valley School, located at 40 Dodgingtown Road (Route 302) in Newtown. The Waldorf-inspired school is hosting the event, which will run from 11 am to 3 pm at its new location this year. Admission and parking are free.

An alternative to the usual commercial fare, the Elves Fair features handmade, natural material crafts, clothing, toys and gifts such as finger puppets, roving angels and fleece Mother Earth dolls. There will be strolling musicians weaving their way through the crowd while fairgoers browse their way through the displays of distinctive hand-crafted objects made by top-quality artisans from throughout New England.

For children, the popular Elves’ Workshop will keep them busy as elves, creating their own handmade, artistic creations including beeswax candles, decorative candle holders and more. Back by popular demand will be Pocket Man, sporting pockets full of surprises for children.

The food served at the Elves Fair is also in keeping with the wholesome nature of the event. Fairgoers can enjoy a gourmet lunch of natural, healthful favorites such as hearty soups and salads, whole grain breads, sandwiches, baked goods, and cider.

The Elves Fair is one of the biggest annual fundraisers for the non-profit Housatonic Valley Waldorf School Association, which offers Waldorf-inspired schooling for children kindergarten through grade 7.
