Newtown High School’s cross country teams raced in state championship meets at Manchester’s Wickham Park on November 1. Both Nighthawk squads placed 14th — the girls in the Class LL race and the boys in the Class L competition.

Newtown’s Emily Litke was 49th in 22:19, Grace Chiriatti came in 64th in 23:08, Britta Petersen was 70th in 23:30, Ella Hage 94th in 24:45, and Grace Lyons 105th in 25:21.

For the boys, Aidan Budge led NHS in 30th with a time of 18:14, Mitchell Schrader was 68th in 19:00, Daniel Sibley was 79th in 19:28, Stephen Sibley 97th in 20:09, and Jeremy Pankow came in 111th in 20:26.
