Womanâs Club Scholarships Available
Scholarships are again being offered by the Newtown Womanâs Club, GFWC, Inc, to qualified women who are currently in either an undergraduate or masterâs program. The applicant must have completed at least two years of college with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Currently available are The Phipps Memorial Scholarship, created in 1926 to help deserving students further their education; The Dorothy E. Schoelzel Scholarship, first awarded in 1967 to assist women in the field of education, in continuing their academic career at accredited institutions; and The Waterbury Womanâs Club Scholarship, created in 1979 to assist deserving students in furthering their education in working with disabled children.
There is a December 15 deadline for requesting an application for the statewide scholarships. Written requests for applications should be sent to The Newtown Womanâs Club, GFWC, Inc â Attention Education Committee, PO Box 101, Newtown CT 06470-1010. Â
