Secrets From A Pro On Designing A Better Garden

On Wednesday, November 10, Rita Bond will present a program on behalf of The Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown titled “Designing a Better Garden: Secrets of the Pros.”

During her slide show, Ms Bond will focus on answering the question: Why does your garden seem chaotic, lack cohesiveness or has a burst of color in the spring, and then recedes to a green dullness for the remainder of the year? This program will reveal the methods and basic principles that professional garden designers use to avoid and solve these common problems.

Ms Bond is the owner of Rita Bond Landscape Design LLC. She is a University of Connecticut Master Gardener and a teacher and lecturer at continuing education programs and garden clubs. She is a contributing writer to the Connecticut Horticultural Society Newsletter and one of the gardens she designed is on the National Garden Conservancy Open Days tours.

Ms also created a garden for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. She was once the featured guest in a series of local cable television shows on improving a home’s curb appeal. This past year, Ms Bond was awarded the Connecticut Tribute Award for Landscape Design at the annual awards meeting of the Federated Garden Clubs on Connecticut, Inc.

Ms Bond is also an artist who loves the use of color in painting the natural environment. Her landscapes, seascapes and abstract paintings reveal her love of New England.

The program will begin at 7:30 pm at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook. and is open to the public.
