Pre-Holiday Crafts Festival Just Around The Corner
Pre-Holiday Crafts Festival Just Around The Corner
BROOKFIELD â Stacey Olszewski of Newtown, owner of Old Green Road folk art, is coordinating Brookfield Historical Societyâs 19th Annual Festival of Crafts.
The wares of more than 50 juried vendors will be on sale during the event, which returns to Whisconier Middle School, 17 West Whisconier Road (off Route 25), on Saturday, November 6, from 9 am to 4 pm.
âThe upcoming crafts festival will feature many returning exhibiters and a number of new vendors, primarily from the surrounding area,â said Mrs Olszewski. âIn these trying economic times, the mostly handmade crafts will provide buyers with a unique opportunity to purchase, truly, one of a kind gifts, at reasonable prices.â
The Festival of Crafts has grown to be one of the largest and most successful pre-holiday sales events of its kind throughout the northeast region of the state. Among the many item that will be offered this year are jewelry, decorative pieces, folk art, personal grooming articles, soaps, soft sculptures, clothing, baskets, handbags, candles, assorted holiday treasures, edible delicacies, wood crafts, pet items and a host of diverse choices that can be bought as gifts or for home use.
In addition childrenâs authors Doreen Tango Hampton (I Like Gum) and Dawn Aldrich (Auntieâs House) will be on hand to autograph their books.  Â
A food court will offer soup, sandwiches, snacks and drinks.
Festival admission is $5 (or $4 with a coupon that be downloaded from the Brookfield Historical Society website, BrookfieldCTHistory.org), or free ages 12 and under. Call the historical society at 203-740-8140 for additional information.
