Halloween Support For Main St.
Halloween Support For Main St.
To the Editor:
Trick or treating on Main Street is a wonderful, safe activity for families like mine. The Main Street residents and the Police Department are to be commended for their enthusiastic support of our town and our children during Halloween. While so many families benefit from this event, the burden of providing the treats falls solely on the families on Main Street.
One Main Street homeowner I spoke with after Halloween said she had 900 children come to her home. Next year letâs rally as a town and help Newtownâs Main Street homeowners from the Police Station to Currituck by donating âtreats.â Other Connecticut towns collect candy at the police station or town hall before Halloween. Those of us who do not have to buy treats because we are out on Main Street could donate what we would have bought if we werenât out trick or treating on Main Street.
Lets not let some of our town residents do so much for us and have to dig so deep into their own pockets as well. Next Halloween lets help out and all share in the preparation as well as the fun.
I love this town.
Sincerely,
Bek Meyers
