DUI/Drugs
Police report they were dispatched at 6:08 pm on October 10 to the intersection of Dylan Drive and Glenmor Drive on a report of a motorist sitting in a vehicle there who could not be woken up.
After investigating, police arrested motorist Richard Timms, 43, of Danbury, on charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license, and possession of heroin. After arrest processing, police released Timms on $1,000 bail for a court appearance to plead to the charges.
Warrant
State police report that on October 16, they arrested Gregory Garland, 34, of Southbury, on a warrant, charging him with driving under the influence, failure to maintain the travel lane, and failure to carry automotive insurance and/or a vehicle registration.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Interstate 84 in Newtown on June 6. Garland was released on $2,500 non-surety bail for an October 29 court appearance. At his arraignment, Garland did not plead to the charges, He is scheduled to return to court on November 19.
DUI Arrest
Police said they received a call about 9:33 pm on October 22 reporting to them that near 316 South Main Street, a red Mazda 6 sedan was being driven erratically, so they responded to investigate.
Police located the vehicle in question and stopped it on South Main Street near Borough Lane to investigate. Police charged motorist Linette Navarrete, 44, of Danbury, with driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, and failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles about an address change. Navarrete was released on $500 bail for a November 7 court appearance.
Bicycle Found
Police report that on October 22, they found a blue and white bicycle and a bag containing some spare parts, among other items, at an unspecified location. Police said it is unclear if the items that they found are stolen goods. The bicycle’s owner may contact police to retrieve the items at the police station.
Road Rage
Police report that after investigating an incident that occurred near the intersection of Berkshire Road and Wasserman Way on the morning of October 23, they charged construction truck driver Nicholas Knapp, 32, of Redding, with disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief in connection with an alleged road rage incident.
Police said that Knapp, who had been driving a 2012 Kenworth T-800 construction truck, became involved in a dispute with a person who was driving a 2004 Jaguar X-type sedan in connection with the two vehicles nearly having collided. During the dispute, Knapp allegedly got out of the truck and kicked in the sedan’s front passenger door, damaging it.
Knapp was released from custody on a written promise to appear in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury on November 7 to answer the charges.
Turkey Hill Crash
Police report that motorist Darlene Blumenthal, 58, of Sandy Hook, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta auto westward on Turkey Hill Road about 2:31 am on October 23, when the vehicle drove off the left road shoulder and smashed into a residential stone wall.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Blumenthal to Danbury Hospital for an evaluation, police said. Police verbally warned Blumenthal for making a restricted turn.
Hawleyville Crash
About 12:33 pm on October 23, on eastbound Mt Pleasant Road, motorist Marcorello Julio DeSouza Chavez, 32, of Hartford, who was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck, stopped, and was waiting to turn left onto a driveway at 166 Mt Pleasant Road, when the Dodge was struck from behind by motorist Harriet Birrittella, 81, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2010 Subaru Legacy sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Birrittella received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Flagpole Intersection
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the Main Street flagpole intersection about 3 pm on October 24.
The collision involved motorist Caitlyn Hrace, 27, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2015 Hyundai Elantra auto, and motorist Ledia Doci, 19, of Oxford, who was driving a 2005 BMW X-3 SUV. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Hrace for passing on the right.
Honda Vs Toyota
Police report a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Main Street and Hanover Road about 4:32 pm on October 24.
The accident involved a 2006 Honda Pilot SUV driven by Ava Roberts, 18, of Newtown, and a 1997 Toyota Camry sedan driven by Helen Zekala, 78, of New Milford. Zekala was transported to a hospital for treatment. Roberts received an infraction for making a restricted turn.
Ford Vs Chevy
At about 5:19 pm on October 24, at 35 Sugar Street, motorist Jacob Schwartz, 68, of Newtown, who was driving a 2001 Ford Expedition SUV, attempted to exit a driveway, as motorist William Schultz, 75, of Southbury, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Sugar Street, according to a police report.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Schwartz for failure to grant the right of way.
MV/Drugs
Police said they made a traffic stop near the intersection of Toddy Hill Road and Turnberry Lane about 7:14 pm on October 25 to investigate.
Police charged motorist, David Santiago, 51, of Waterbury, with a tail lamp violation and with illegal possession of Oxycodone and more than one-half ounce of marijuana. Santiago was released for a November 12 court appearance.
Sunglasses
Police report that they received for safekeeping at 5 pm on October 25 a pair of black sunglasses, which had been found on Mt Pleasant Road at its intersection with Hawleyville Road. The sunglasses were in a brown case. The owner may retrieve the item by identifying them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
DUI Incident
Police report that at about 9:06 pm on October 25, they received a call from a person in the area of 91 Berkshire Road reporting an erratic motorist traveling there.
After responding, police found the motorist in question, Danielle Boccher, 46, of Sandy Hook, at her home and still sitting inside the Honda Accord that she had been driving. Police charged Boccher with driving under the influence. She was released on $100 bail for a November 12 court appearance.
Botsford Accident
About 3:49 pm on October 26, motorist Sy Inthavong, 69, of Stratford, who was driving a 2017 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck southward on South Main Street, near Swamp Road, struck the rear end of a 2013 Infiniti FX-37 SUV driven by Tamara Wilson, 41, of Monroe, police said.
There were no injuries. Inthavong received an infraction for following too closely.
DUI Arrest
Police said that at about 7:41 pm on October 27, they received a report of an erratic driver traveling near the Main Street flagpole, so they responded.
Police located the motorist in question, Celio Vales, 48, of Waterbury, and stopped his 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup truck to investigate near 62 Church Hill Road. Police charged Vales with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane. Vales was released for a November 12 court appearance.
Toddy Hill Collision
At 5:25 pm on October 28, on southbound Toddy Hill Road, near Turnberry Lane, motorist Katherine Peck, 30, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2017 Subaru Legacy sedan, struck the rear end of a 2009 Honda Civic auto driven by Olivia Renkert, 17, of Newtown, police said.
There were no injuries. Peck received an infraction for following too closely.
Three Vehicles
Police report a three-vehicle collision on westbound Mt Pleasant Road, near the Bethel town line, at about 5:33 pm on October 28.
In that incident, motorist Sadie Madson, 26, of Grand Forks, N.D., who was driving a 2011 Ford Fiesta auto, struck the rear end of a 2018 Toyota RAV-4 SUV driven by David Caldwell, 62, of Danbury, thus pushing the Toyota into the rear end of a 2009 Ford Edge SUV driven by Kathleen Deroin, 74, of Bethel. Both Madson and Deroin reported injuries but were not transported by ambulance. Police issued Madson an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Berkshire Road
On eastbound Berkshire Road, about 725 feet west of its intersection with Toddy Hill Road, at about 5:39 pm on October 28, motorist Seneca Schultz, 25, of New Haven, who was driving a 2012 Subaru Impreza auto, struck the rear end of a 2018 Nissan pathfinder SUV driven by Maly Sheklow, 39, of Shelton, police said. There were no injuries. Schultz received a written warning for following too closely.
DUI Incident
Police said they received a complaint about 3:12 pm on October 29 from a person reporting a motor vehicle incident near the intersection of Berkshire Road and Bradley Lane. After locating the motorist in question, police charged Francisco Rodas, 60, of Danbury, with driving under the influence, evading responsibility with a motor vehicle, following too closely, and possession of a controlled substance or more than one-half ounce of marijuana. Rodas was released for a November 14 court appearance.
