Voting Reminders, Candidate Profiles For 2019 Municipal Elections

On Tuesday, November 5, registered Newtown voters will go to the polls for municipal elections. Polls at all locations are open for voting from 6 am to 8 pm.

Polling Locations

District 1 and 1-5: Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street

District 2 and 3-2: Reed Intermediate School, 3 Trades Lane

District 3-1 and 3-5: Head O’ Meadow School, 94 Boggs Hill Road

Absentee ballots have been available at the Town Clerk’s office, within Newtown Municipal Center at 3 Primrose Street, since October 4. An absentee ballot may be applied for by any qualified registered voter unable to vote due to the following reasons:

*Illness or physical disability;

*Absence from town during all election hours;

*Religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on election day;

*Serving as an election official at a polling place other than your own;

*Active service in the Armed Forces.

If you should have any questions regarding absentee ballots, contact the Town Clerk’s office at 203-270-4210. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Application for absentee ballot can be found at portal.ct.gov/-/media/sots/electionservices/electforms/electforms/aabengpdf.pdf.

Absentee ballots may be requested as late as Monday, November 4. All absentee ballots must be received by the close of polls on Tuesday, November 5.

Special hours for absentee voting will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 9 am to noon, in the Office of the Town Clerk at Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street.

Candidate Profiles

Three collections of candidate profiles have been published in the weeks leading up to tomorrow's municipal elections.

The first collection of profiles, for those running for positions on the Board of Education, Police Commisson, Planning & Zoning Commission, Planning & Zoning Alternates, Zoning Board of Appeals, Zoning Board of Appeals Alternates, and Board of Assessment Appeals can all be read here.

The second set of profiles, for those seeking to maintain or gain a position on the Board of Finance, Legislative Council (all three districts), Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers, First Selectman, Board of Selectmen, and additional Planning & Zoning Commission candidates can be read here.

Newtown's registered voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, for municipal elections.
