Festival Of Trees Donations Sought For 33rd Newtown Holiday Festival
Organizers for the 33rd Annual Newtown Holiday Festival are counting on the public for donations for this year’s Festival of Trees.
Part of the holiday festival, the Festival of Trees offers both a beautiful display and a shopping/auction opportunity for those who want to take a piece of the festival home with them.
In years past, up to 40 small trees, wreaths, centerpieces, and holiday gift baskets are decorated and donated each year by local individuals, friends, families, businesses, clubs, and organizations. The trees are of various shapes and sizes, artificial and life, stuffed, ceramic, wood, and other materials.
The event is a raffle, with tickets sold only during the Holiday Festival. Winners will be drawn at 4 pm, December 2, and do not need to be present to win.
Newtown Youth & Family Services (NYFS), which benefits from proceeds of the holiday festival, is seeking donors for this year’s Festival of Trees. Anyone interested in participating is asked to contact Susan Smith, co-chair of the Festival of Trees, no later than November 10, to register for the event.
A few guidelines: trees must be no taller than 5 feet, can be lit or non-lit, and all ornaments must be securely wired to the tree.
Drop-off will be Saturday, December 1, between 9 am and 1 pm, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.
