Merrill “Dick” Rahmlow, 89, of Newtown, died November 3. He was born June 29, 1925, in Hornell, N.Y.

Mr Rahmlow was a US Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He worked as a machinist most of his career, achieving the position of plant engineer until his retirement in 1993 from Mal Tool & Engineering of Manchester, Conn., where he worked for 26 years.

His beloved wife of 61 years, Antoinette Rahmlow; their son Richard and his wife Susan; and three grandchildren, Daniel, Zachary, and Kelsey, of Sandy Hook survive Mr Rahmlow.

The family extends a special thank you to Diana Douglas of Visiting Angels Brookfield, and the staff of Maplewood of Newtown for their dedication and compassion during his care.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Thursday, November 6, from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services and interment in Newtown Village Cemetery will be private.
