Where Did Our Connecticut Ancestors Go? West!
The Genealogy Club of Newtown will present a free talk by professional genealogist Nora Galvin on Wednesday, November 9, at 7 pm, at the C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.
Her topic will be âWhere Did Our Connecticut Ancestors Go? Migration from Connecticut Before 1850.â Early in the 19th Century, when Connecticut could not sustain its population growth, many families packed up and moved west in search of new land and a new life. Ms Galvin will explain why and where they went, and discuss what their lives were like in the new settlement.
Nora Galvin is a former high school teacher and laboratory scientist who now lives in Bridgeport. She is president of the Connecticut Ancestry Society (Fairfield County), secretary of the Connecticut Professional Genealogists Council, and program chair of the New England chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists. Ms Galvin runs her own genealogy research firm, Aunt Lizzieâs Trunk.
The Genealogy Club of Newtown meets in the community room of the C.H. Booth Library. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
