Newtown Lions Club Selects Winner For 2018 Classic Mustang
After thousands of entries had been cast, the Newtown Lions Club had its much-anticipated Classic Mustang Car Raffle drawing on Saturday, October 20.
Club members and hopeful ticket-holding members of the public gathered around the sought-after 1967 Mustang convertible that was parked in front of the Edmond Town Hall.
This year’s vehicle shined with its red body and black top, and it included a V8 engine with automatic transmission, power steering, and power front disc brakes.
Newtown Lions Club member Skip Sims’ grandson, Justin Sims, had the honor — for the eighth year in a row — of selecting the winning raffle ticket.
After reaching into the bucket of tickets, Justin closed his eyes and picked a card from the middle then handed it to Newtown Lions Club member Paul Krueger, who founded the Mustang raffle fundraiser 28 years ago.
Mr Krueger announced that the lucky winner of the 1967 Mustang convertible was Pat Galla of East Haven, ticket #07209.
This year’s car raffle saw many out-of-town participants due to new legislation that passed with the help of State Representative Mitch Bolinsky, who was present, that allowed the Newtown Lions Clubs to be able to sell tickets online.
All proceeds raised from the annual Classic Mustang Car Raffle go toward Lions Club charities.
