Program Will Honor Marine Veterans

BROOKFIELD CENTER — The Brookfield Museum & Historical Society will present its third annual Veterans’ Day Program on Saturday, November 11.

The program will be at Brookfield Public Library, 182 Whisconier Road (Route 25), beginning at 7:30 pm.

Brookfield Police Chief Robin Montgomery, a former Marine, will speak on the Marine Corps which on November 10 celebrates its 231st birthday. Chief Montgomery, a decorated Vietnam war veteran, having received his country’s second highest medal for valor, the Navy Cross, and twice the recipient of a purple heart, will share some of his military experiences while serving in the corps.

In addition, two other local Marine Corps veterans will be on hand to offer comments and field questions on their time in the service: World War II and Iwo Jima veteran Emil Samuelson; and Korean War veteran Frank Johnson, currently the interim commander of the Brookfield Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend this tribute to all area veterans. Following the program complimentary refreshments and desserts will be served.]
